A satellite centre of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh will be established in Udham Singh Nagar district on land provided by the state government.

This satellite centre of Aiims Rishikesh will provide all necessary medical treatment facilities for patients of the Kumaon region. A letter to this effect from the government of India economic adviser Nilambuj Sharan has been received by the AIIMS Rishikesh director.

Reacting to this development, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Health minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Dhami has been requesting the central government to facilitate establishment of AIIMS in the Kumaon region on the lines of AIIMS Rishikesh.

Dhami said that the establishment of this centre, the patients of Kumaon region and those from neighbouring districts of Uttar Pradesh will benefit considerably from better medical treatment facilities.

It is pertinent to mention here that in his letter, Sharan has stated that like AIIMS

Bhubaneswar has opened its satellite centre at Balasore in Odisha, necessary arrangements should be made for AIIMS Rishikesh to operate its satellite centre in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand.

With this letter being received from the central government, a technical team of the Health minister will soon evaluate the utility of the land provided by the and the capacity of the AIIMS satellite centre. Headed by the AIIMS director, the engineer concerned and chief architect will visit the land in question and check its utility.
