UP govt begins expansion,beautification of highways

The Uttar Pradesh government has initiated measures for expansion, strengthening, and beautification of the state highways to ensure smooth and safe road travel.

Significant progress has been made in widening and strengthening three state highways. Funds have been approved for the completion of works related to the construction of three bridges in Agra and six in Bareilly, a government spokesman said.

He said the government has approved Rs 58 crore for the ongoing projects on three state highways. Process has been initiated to release Rs 50 crore for converting the road connecting Kaushambi to Prayagraj Airport into a four-lane road, Rs 4 crore each for widening the Bharatganj-Pratappur road from Prayagraj, realignment and for the widening of the Chiraiyakot-Belthara Road in Azamgarh.

To utilise the state property funds, the process of allocation of Rs 10.63 crores for the transformation of 35 routes in various districts of the Prayagraj division approved between 2021 and 2023 has been initiated by the Public Works Department.

This fund will be utilised for the construction, strengthening and maintenance of proposed roads in different districts, including six in Fatehpur, nine in Pratapgarh, eight in Kaushambi, and 12 in Prayagraj.
