TheGujaratgovernment is all set to implement a new policy that will identify meritorious students, provide them with free education and boarding facilities, and gradually groom them to crack competitive entrance exams through public-private partnership. The state passed a government resolution to promote residential schools of excellence through PPP mode.

All capital towards setting up the schools will be borne by project partners, who will provide land and invest in the civil and digital Infrastructure required from time to time.

While the entire capital cost will be borne by project partners, the Education department will assist in meeting the recurring cost by paying a lump-sum amount for each student to the project partners each year. A lumpsum amount of Rs 60,000 per child per annum for the financial year 2021-22 with an annual increase of 7% every year has been proposed.
