Chhattisgarh’s Forest Department has planned extensive sowing of fruit seeds and seed balls in forests and nearby areas on July 11.

A total of 50,000 kg of seeds of fruit bearing trees and 25 lakh seed balls are to be sown in different forest divisions.

Forest Minister Mohammed Akbar announced this on Saturday at a meeting with officials here to review the event.

Under the programme, ber (jujube), jamun (jambul), Bel (wood apple), sitaphal (custard apple), karaunda (gooseberry) and munga (drumsticks) and others will be planted or sprayed or sown through seed ball spreading.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Rakesh Chaturvedi said every forest division has to sow 1,000-3,000 kg of fruit bearing trees and one lakh seed balls.
