Survey to detect parasitic infection in UP school kids

A team of experts from Chandigarh-based NationalInstitute of Epidemiology of Icmr(Indian Council of Medical Research) is conducting a survey of -transmitted helminths prevalence among children studying in the government primary and upper primary schools inUttar Pradesh.

Soil-transmitted helminths lead toparasitic infectionin children that hinders nutritional and physical development in young children, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Under the survey, stool samples of school going children are being collected and their microscopic examination is being done in temporary microscopic centres set up at the nearest health facility (community/ primary health centre).
