5 countries ready to develop pisciculture in Madhya Pradesh

Madhya PradeshGovernment, in its bid to increase production, demand and create new markets along with branding and benefiting fishermen, has chalked out ‘Mukhyamantri Matsya Vikas Yojana’ while the state department on Saturday signed expression of interest (EOI) with as many as five countries for deeper collaboration of development of fisheries for mutual benefits.

MPs Balaghat district has ranked first in the field of fish production. Under Blue Revolution, now, our aim is to make Madhya Pradesh pioneer in high fish/seeds production, setting up feed mills, branding and promotion of freshwater fish along with benefiting fishermen by extending them benefits of the central and state-run schemes and helping them exploring new markets and getting right price of their fish the minister said.

As per the draft, objectives of the yet-to-be-implemented scheme are scaling up fishermen economically and socially by increasing fish/seeds production, strengthening Marketing to help farmers getting right price of the fish products, distributingKisan Credit Cardto fishermen at 0% interest rate, making easy availability of fresh fish (affordable Nutrition) in hygienic condition, conservation of endangered Mahashir (Tor tor) fish and developing a portal for reporting and monitoring of the departmental works.
