Chhattisgarh: Bhupesh Baghel govt to give 1112 crore to farmers

TheChhattisgarhgovernment will on Sunday transfer more than Rs 1,112 crore directly to the accounts of farmers towards the fourth instalment ofRajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojanaand the unique Godhan Nyay Yojana, under which the state procures cow dung from cattle rearers.

Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana was launched on May 21 last year to provide agricultural input assistance to farmers and to increase production and the productivity of major crops of the state. Besides paddy in the kharif season, 13 other crops such as maize, soyabean,groundnut, sesame, pigeonpea, moong, urad, kulthi, ramatil, kodo, kutki, ragi have also been included along with sugarcane in rabi season.

Under Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, farmers who cultivated paddy in Kharif 2019 are being paid in instalments directly in their bank account at Rs 10,000 per acre on the basis of acreage obtained through .

Nearly 18.4 lakh farmers including 9.54 lakh marginal farmers, 5.60 lakh small farmers and 3.21 lakh large farmers have been paid Rs 4,500 crore in three instalments as input assistance and 4,777 certified seed growers have been paid over Rs 23.6 crore in three instalments.

In this way, Rs 4,523.62 crore has been paid to a total of 18.43 lakh farmers.

Godhan Nyaya Yojana the only such scheme in the country was started for the purchase of cow dung at the rate of Rs 2 per kg to provide additional income to Livestock rearers. More than 70,000 landless people constitute 44.5% of the beneficiaries under this scheme.
