Tourist footfall in state increased by 33% in 2022

Tourists footfall inMadhya Pradeshin the year 2022 surged 33 per cent on a year-on-year basis as development of new tourist circuits, adventure activities and improved air connectivity lured travellers from other Indian states and internationally.
In the year 2022, over 3.4 crore tourists including domestic and foreign visited Madhya Pradesh, up by 33 per cent from the previous year, according to the data from the Ministry of Tourism. Religious, heritage and wildlife circuits were the most visited destinations in the state.Vivek Shrotriya, additional managing director, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board said, There has been an exponential Growth in tourist visits in Madhya Pradesh recently. Branding MP, nationally and internationally has helped us in getting the tourist influx while we have revamped the whole travel experience by adding festivals, adventure activities and rural tourism.

The board has identified 100 villages in MP to develop homestays by engaging locals to host tourists with various experiential insights including village walk, tribal art display, fishing, local music and dance evenings, farming and among others. Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board also plans to develop tent cities, water and air Sports, carnivals and other recreational activities at Kuno in Sheopur district, Orchha, Ater in Bhind district, Tamia in Chindawara district, Chanderi, Bargi dam in Jabalpur on the lines of Hanuwantiya, Mandu andGandhi Sagar.
