Karnataka’s first medicinal park is being built at Harangi in Kodagu.
Napanda Ravi Kalappa, chairman of Karnataka Biodiversity Board, who presided over the launch, said that the board has a master plan of building a model medicinal garden in Kodagu. He said that the park is being launched in the district to preserve the rich variety of Flora found in the district.
The board intends to establish biodiversity parks in every panchayat of the district. The Coorg Mandarin was once an exclusive plant in the district. However, it has lost its existence and research is being conducted to promote this species, he said.
