Low credit-deposit ratio weighs on GDP growth of many districts

Banks are lending far less than the deposits they mobilise in districts like Sirohi, Dungarpur,Dholpurand Karauli. Unavailability of credit has been one of the reasons for the backwardness of the regions with their contribution to state GDP remaining at the lowest band compared to other districts.

Bankers said that there are several ways to improve the CD (credit-deposit) ratio of these districts. CD ratio shows the amount of raised by banks as deposit and how much of it has been given as a loan to the customers.

While the Average CD ratio stands at 87% in the state, the same for Sirohi is 48%, the lowest in the state. Dungarpur, Dholpur and Karauli have 54%, 59% and 60% respectively.
