95% govt health facilities dont maintain essential drugs stocks

Around 95% of public Health facilities inMadhya Pradeshare not maintaining stocks of medicines prescribed in essential drug list (EDL) of new drug policy of , showed records. The information came to fore through an analysis of a dashboard of Madhya Pradesh Public Health Services Corporation Limited (MPPHSCL), which is monitoring real time daily stocks of facilities in the state.
The dashboard showed that only 86 of those 1617 facilities including primary health centres (PHC) and district hospitals have essential medicines stocks in accordance with drug policy of state government.

The dashboard showed records for 52 district hospitals, 73 civil hospitals, 333 CHCs, and 1019 PHCs, 93UrbanPHCs, 2 Urban CHCs, and 45Sanjivani Clinics.

Health minister Dr Prabhuram Choudhary told TOI, “The drug is supplied to respective hospitals in accordance with demands from their side and the facilities are maintaining stocks of it.”
