High prevalence ofanaemiaamong Women and children continues to remain a major worry for authorities, the findings of theNational Family Health Survey(NFHS) – 5 has indicated. The survey covered over 22,823 homes in rural and urbanJharkhand.
The reports of the survey’s second phase, which was conducted between January 1, 2020 and April 30, 2021 and made public late last week, revealed that 67.5% of children aged between five months and five years were anaemic. Around 65.5% children living in rural areas and 67.9% in urban areas were found to be anaemic, the survey has found. However, it has indicated a dip from 69% as reported during the fourth edition of the survey held between 2015 and 2016.
Anaemia among women aged between 15 and 49 yrs was found to be 65.3% in the latest survey as against the 65.2% anaemic women found in the last one.
