The registration of false rape cases has gone up to 45% last year in the state, said director general of Police (DGP) Umesh Mishra in the city on Monday, while stating that the crime data has shown an increase because the state police filed FIRs promptly when they received complaints.
The number of FIRs does not reflect an increase in crimes and showed that the police have registered cases fairly, Mishra said while addressing a press conference at the police headquarters and sharing the crime data.
