Mizoramhas provided shelter to 24,289 refugees fromMyanmartill February 2, after they fled the neighbouring country following the military coup in February last year and took shelter in Mizoram, chief ministerZoramthangainformed the state legislative assembly.

The Centre could not openly give financial and other assistance to the refugees as India is not party to the 1951 Refugee Convention
